Our History

Since September 2009, Sjoerd and Anna-Marie Alkema, trading as Allmusic, took over Musical Pleasures. With their thorough knowledge and experience, the profile of the shop in Brackenfell received a face-lift and its services were broadened. Whereas Musical Pleasures concentrated mainly on the beginners market, Allmusic serves the more advanced and professional markets as well.

The well-known piano tuner and business manager, Lukas van der Walt, started Musical Pleasures in 1992.  Eight year ago, Ronel van der Kolff managed the sheet music section. With pianos, instruments and books under one roof, their combined efforts developed into a convenient one-stop music shop. 

At 36 Jeanette Street, Brackenfell, new and repaired pianos, acoustic instruments such as string instruments, guitars, woodwind and brass instruments, mandolines, harmonicas, percussion instruments, recorders and accessories such as string and bags are presented.   

We have the largest selection of choir music in the country and a extensive variety of sheet music. Together, Allmusic and Musical Pleasures import sheet music and pianos from all over the world and can hence offer competitive prizes. 

For your convenience we offer information about music teacher, performing artists and other music activities in our vicinity. Michelle and Gerty are the two experienced ladies at point of sales who are always willing to assist.  Sjoerd and Anna-Marie Alkema are both known in South African circles as teachers, conductors and authors of educational books in use at our schools.
